This is the third and final lesson in my series on how to make money at home writing and selling e-books. Today we are going to take a look at how you can promote your e-book for profit.
The ideal way to promote your e-book would be to create a website. That way the website will act as your sales page for your e-book. People will also be able order your e-book directly from your website and once they have paid for the e-book the order would also be fulfilled through your website. This makes it easy for you because your main focus would be in generating traffic to your website which can be accomplished in a wide variety of different ways not limited to but including article marketing, SEO, pay per click advertising or through using your signature in forums that are related to the topic of your e-book.
Another alternative to the website would be to set up a blog. Preferably a word press blog since they are very easily optimized for the search engines. Blogs have the advantage of allowing you to constantly add fresh content to promote your e-book. They also give you the ability to interact with your prospects and depending on your chosen niche you can give away free information to attract a steady flow of new prospects for your e-book.
Either way you go you will definitely want to set up some sort of way to capture your visitors contact information to get them on a list. Most people don’t buy on their first visit to your site. You will need to get them into your auto responder so that you can follow up with them to make the sale. It may take up to 7 or more emails before they finally decide to buy your e-book. Once you have a list of prospects it will make it a lot easier to promote your next e-book.
You can also opt to promote your e-book for free through joining relevant forums and social networking sites. Approach a few potential joint venture partners on forums and social networking sites via email and ask them to help promote your e-book
Also run a few promotional campaigns like giving out freebies or discounts to the first 50 or 100 buyers. People love a great bargain. Look for advertisers that can help you promote your e-books and your website. Give commissions to advertisers that will promote your e-books and your website. The more people helping you to endorse your e-book, the more likely it will sell.
Eventually you will find that about 20% of your promotional efforts are yielding you 80% of the results that you are getting. That is when it’s time to tweak and fine tune your efforts for maximum results.
As you can see from this series setting up a business selling and writing e-books can be fun, challenging and very rewarding and when thinking of how to make money at home it should be at or near the top of your list.
